This design incorporates a double wound isolating transformer rated 20VA at 230 or 115 volts and it meets regulations making it safe for use in bathrooms. When a shaver plug is inserted into the socket it automatically switches on by energising the primary side of the isolating transformer, when it is removed, it automatically switches off.
